Automated Trading via NT Strategy

This issue has cropped up now a few times on separate strategies on separate contracts:

1/ Load a chart in real time mode (although specific market is closed). Basically just setting up chart up for automated simulated trading overnight. No issue here.

2/ Load a strategy. It would appear that if there is an order to be executed (or may be pending order) immediately upon loading the strategy, the system often freezes. After a couple of minutes, an alert box appears stating something along the lines of "....no market data available.." I presume this is a result of the market being closed, but would like to understand if there is any workaround for this since setting up the charts/strategies prior to the markets opening is beneficial.

Please check your logs.

Is this on sim feed, no? You then would need to apply a startup price for your simulated instrument. Please read more here: http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/HelpGuideV6/SimulatedDataFeed.html

this is not on sim feed - real time YM data. However, as I pointed out in my note the market was CLOSED when attempting to install the strategy into the chart & was wondering if this was the reason?

Did you trade on the sim account? If so, then yes this is the reason since the sim account needs realtime data coming in to properly work.

thx for the quick response. I believe I did trade on the SIM account with the SIM feed during that session.
