Here is where I am...

I'm almost ready to start live trading with a NT / Amp / Zen set-up.

In the beginning I will only be able to trade a couple days a week. So when
I open up a session, I will need to see all historical data for the day as well
as live data. I won't have time to let NT build up data in real time to observe the trends of the previous hours.

So... What would be the best way to start a session, load in the historical data of the day or week. Then continue on with Zen providing the real time data and create the rest of the historical data as I go. (no longer needing the historical data service at that point)

From what I understand, there will be Exchange fees when getting data pertaining to the same day from a third party data provider. So I guess, I could just stay live with the historical provider since I would be paying extra anyway...

I will be trading the ES, NQ and YM initially ....

Does NT have any good deals with such providers?

I hope my limited knowledge has made this question clear enough... :D

Zen provides 10 days of historical data. From your description, it sounds like you're set without needing another data provider. You can start by loading up 5 days of data and adjust from there (I only load up 3 days myself -- the fewer days you load, the faster the charts will fill). You set the number of days to load by right clicking on your chart and selecting "Format Data Series" or by setting this in the Options>Data tab in the control center.

I thought Zen didn't provide historical data...

I'm a little confused now... (Not the first nor the last in this learning blitz) ;)

Hello tderrick,

That is correct; Zen-Fire itself does not provide any historical data. However, as a courtesy we allow Zen-Fire customers to use our historical data server.

There are no exchange fees applied by us regarding data. I suggest to verify with your broker regarding these fees.

Thanks, Jason...

One more question please. Do I stay connected to Zen to access the NT historical data or do I use another connection, then return to Zen to continue with live data?

Thank you for your time and patience .... :D

Can't seem to find out where to enable historical data. Just to import or reload...

Please go to Tools-->Account Connections, highlight your current Zen-Fire connection and click Change.

Click Next and ensure historical data is enabled.
