I'm getting a new system which will run win 7 ultimate with XP virtualization ( according to many in the forum it works fine with NT6.5 ).
I would like to know what is the best way to get all the data, program itself etc related to NT 6.5 Should I just do a new install of NT6.5 and then get the market/trade data copied onto the new machine or is there another process I should follow.

Hello Tomek001,

Thank you for your post.

If you want to copy over settings from an existing NinjaTrader installation, follow these steps:
On your old machine you will want to go to File > Utilities > Backup
Choose which options you would like to save and click OK
This will create a ninjatrader backup file located in:
My documents\NinjaTrader Backup

Files are labeled according to the date they were created. To install Ninjatrader on your new machine, click below for the installation guide
Installation guide (http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/support_installationguide.htm)

You will want to move the btk (NT backup) file from your old computer to your new computer. You can do this if the computers are networked, with a thumb drive, or using a service like yousendit.com (http://www.yousendit.com/)

On your new machine go to File > Utilities > Restore
Locate the backup file and click Open.

Click here for more info from our help guide on backup/restore (http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/HelpGuideV6/Overview50.html)

That should get all your custom settings into your new installation. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thans Ryan,

From your post I understand I should be downloading a new copy of NT 6.5 onto new machine first, correct? Not just copy the whole thing from the old PC onto the new one.

Hi Tomek001,

Yes, that's correct. Download and install on your new computer and then follow the procedure to restore.

an update to my previous post; I was able to install the NT software, however, at some point I need to enter my license. I'm entering the license # I used to have and which expired. At the time it expired I was switched to SIM mode which is fine for the moment since it allows me to practice the "trade". The license # I'm entering is not recognized as a valid license. Please advise how to proceed.

Make sure to send your note to support and not post any license on the forum. I just deleted your post.

The license you provided expired back in July of last year. Please use the free edition license. Please send me a note and I will send it to you.

Vince,

Thanks for quick reply. Please send me the free license for now. Once I have my new system fully tested I will be leasing ninja again.
