View Full Version : "Flatten everything" leaving positions behind

Hi everyone,

When I tried to close all my papertrading positions this morning via "Flatten everything" on the "Positions" tab in NT7b6, the closing orders went through to InteractiveBrokers TraderWorkstation (v898) correctly, closing the positions.

However, the positions remained visible on the Positions tab in NT. When I right-clicked a position and selected "Close Position", the position switched sides and entered an opposite position right away. Closing that one again finally flattened the position and left both TWS and NT without a presumed existing position.

Ok, an example, just to be clear:

1)
TWS & NT --> 5 CL Long, 8 ES Short

2)
"Flatten everything" on Positions tab in NT7b6 results as follows:
TWS --> flat
NT --> 5 CL Long, 8 ES Short

3)
"Close Position" on the CL position in NT results as follows:
TWS --> 5 CL Short
NT --> 5 CL Short, 8 ES Short

4)
Another "Close Position" on CL in NT:
TWS --> flat
NT --> 8 ES Short

5)
"Close Position" on ES in NT:
TWS & NT --> 8 ES Long

6)
Another "Close Position" on ES in NT:
TWS & NT --> Flat

Anybody else experience that?

Regards,

Let's focus on (1) and (2). Anything after might just be a consequence of the initial trouble.

Please make sure you are on NT7B6. I just tested your exact positions 5 long CL 02-10 and 8 short ES 03-10: "Flatten all" on positions tab did clear out both positions as expected.

Is the problem reproducible?

Thanks for your answer, Dierk.

I don't have access to the papertrading account right now, but I can try to reproduce the issue tonight and will let you know.

Maybe it's of some importance that the positions were "leftovers" from Friday evening...? I closed down NT & TWS on Friday evening with those positions being open (which they still were on Monday (this) morning, of course). Then the events described above happened.

I'll try my best when I get home, and maybe leave another position open overnight and try to flatten tomorrow morning - could be it has to do with the process of closing down NT in the meantime.

And yes, I am on NT7b6.

Thanks so far.

Thanks for your feedback. I suppose these very actual positions in your paper trade account and not on NT Sim101 account no?

Hmmm - was unable to reproduce this morning. Will let you know once the problem reappears, Dierk. Thanks so far!
