View Full Version : It's still not too late to change your NT logo

It's not too late to change your logo, people haven't seen it yet.

Two reasons:

The stylized red NT letters are not really resolvable as a program icon, at least for its size on my high resolution screen, so I think the meaning of the letters will be lost on most people. It looks like a pointy red blob. Your Ninja throwing star log that still appears in the program isn't half bad, although it could probably use one or two more points if you upgrade it. A big juicy letter "N" as a program icon would be much easier for people to see and recognize.

Second reason, the logo looks a lot like the German eagle from Hitler's Third Reich. Unfortunately Hitler did hire some very good art deco graphic artists.

Anyway, take a vote or do a market test any way you want. I just wanted to mention it to help out.

Just an idea...if the new NT logo icon was placed on a square white background (maybe with very slightly rounded corners) to the max pixel size allowable in (quick launch) icons it might stand out a bit more and be a bit more readable...& it might have a bit more clarity & maybe look a bit better when in the title bar of Ninja charts this way also...

...Kind of like the way the Irfanview icon (the red road kill icon on a white background, second to the left of the NT icon in the screen shots below) is presented...that stands out pretty good and gives a good target to hit...

Just a thought though....

Red signifies loss.

was reading somewhere that Citi do not use the color red in any of their ads or so keeping the same in mind.

Yes, at first time I installed NT 7, I have the same minds. Looks on the first impression like the Logo of the in germany indexed game "Wolfenstein". You see the Logo at the attachement.

A green logo would be nice :D green for hope and green pips :D

I was initially going to suggest that a Feng-Shui master analyze the new NT logo (kind of as a joke) to see how good it is...

But then I ran onto this site called Feng-GUI (Feng Shui for Graphic User Interfaces) that analyzes graphics and webpages etc with multi-color heat maps to indicate how well people respond visually to graphic designs...evidently graphic designers are now using this technique to fine tune designs for best response...

"Feng-GUI empowers designers, advertisers and photographers to effectively (http://www.feng-gui.com/faq.htm#quality) analyze Attention and Attraction in visuals.

Find out how people see your website, creative media or photo and which areas of the image attract the viewer attention."

Hey....who knows...if this isn't snake oil, maybe it's something to look into...??

I'd like to see something along the lines of the Office 2010 look, not only for the logo but for the chart windows etc.

Went to Feng-GUI.com and inserted the NT7 Start up screen to be auto analyzed by their program for areas of viewer interest...suprizingly accurate I thought...

Take a look...

Screen shots of Start Up Screen & of Feng-GUI analysis below...

Interesting...:)

This is off the subject a bit...however....

Decided to see if Feng-GUI was maybe any good at chart analysis...(looking for that edge)...tried a 5 minute NQ chart...the original and the Feng-GUI analysis are in screen shots below...not too shabby perhaps...it caught 3 major turns generally OK !!...

Of couse maybe one would want Feng-GUI (pronounced "Feng-Gooey") to look at 1 & 2 minute charts to catch the minor turns...

actually the previous logo was better in terms of designing, but as it resembles the Nazi regime (btw, non violence of Gandhi resulted in a death of more than a million) it was dropped.

the new logo is more like the letter AV. more suitable for an anti-virus software. Ninja Defender maybe ;)

Agree with Alfred. The last logo (NinjaTrader 7.0.0.7 and 7.0.0.8) is much better than the previous one, which looked like a jackhammer.

The colours could be a bit brighter. This one looks <<très esthétique>>, but is difficult to find on your screen.

Like the latest logo...a great improvement...:)

My main concern is visibility.

Try testing different light and dark desktop backgrounds such as mine.

On a dark background much of the detail can be lost.

Two tones?

What about having the new logo placed on a white background...possibly slightly oval, circular or square...that way it would pop out in most situations somewhat better perhaps...:)

The new logo is fine, lets spend a little more time on stabilizing the platform.

the logo is work of people who cannot contribute in stabilizing the platform in any way... dont you think

Not likely, I don't think Ray has a dedicated logo designer on staff, and even if it is farmed out, it takes Ray or someone else's time to figure it out, not to mention integrate it etc. A platform that is going on two years late should not be too worried about how the logo looks IMO.

Yes, I have a creative designer on staff and no, this does not impact development schedule. Also, we know we are late, but two years late is inaccurate. Aproximately 20 months ago, we released our current major version, NinjaTrader 6.5 and thus started on development of NT7 around that time. So it is correct to say we have been working on NT7 for about 20 months.

Ok, I stand corrected. Continue your discussion.
