How do you save the custom fibonacci settings? When I right click and change the fibs in Template it says default. I hit ok and apply...draw another fib and its right back to the original settings.

Thanks for the video

#1 - I just noticed that you can not save settings as Default --> Will check into this but I believe you should be able to whcih would prevent the extra step you pointed out in your video

#2 - The "ESC" key actualy was a design bug in 6.5 --> Should never have operated as a delete. This was changed also since this key was needed for deselection of an object.

It does not let you overwrite the "default" i tsays "Cannot save a custom template as "default"

Right --> This likely is not expected and I am checking with development to change this.

I am experiencing the same frustration. I draw fibs all day and just want the same basic fib settings applied as the default to all charts, just like 6.5 did.

Also, I noticed something else that is annoying and different from 6.5. In the fib settings, when you select 'extend left' or 'extend right' it will right justify or left justify the text for the fibs and it does not allow you to move the text when moving the fib lines. If they are both unchecked, then the text moves with the lines.

I would like to see it work the same as 6.5 which is much more flexible. Typically, I have the fib settings set to both to extend left and right and then I move the text to an area on the chart that is easier to read and not in the way.

These settings are important to me because I draw fibs all day as my primary indicator.

Thanks

Agreed. A LOT of traders use FIbonacci. What we'd all like to see idealy is the same sort thing that worked in NT 6.5 except a couple things.

1. Allow you to place the text on the right. It doesn't even need to extend. Just Right justify the text so the bars aren't in the way.

2. I really liked the ESC key, but if that as buy then whatever. Its a bug thats lasted 2 yrs...

3. Save your current settings and have it apply across any other fibs you draw as it was in 6.5

It looks like nothing related to this has changed in Beta 4. It's unusable right now.

-Cannot save default FIB temp, or save which template is used by default (have to manually choose a saved template for each FIB that is drawn)
-Selecting Extend Right right justifies the text rather than keeping it locked to the FIB select line, so that it can be moved to uncluter the chart view.

I would like to see the basic FIB functionality unchanged from 6.5, just add some new options to it.

-Templates - this is good, but change the behavior so a template can be selected as the default to apply to all charts.
-Text view - Keep the text locked to the FIB select line (like in 6.5) but maybe add an option to extend the text right or left as another check box in FIB properties.

Thanks

There are some issues identified with Fib templates in Beta 4.

VERY disappointing that nothing has changed in Beta 4. This is basic basic basic BASIC Fibonacci stuff that is not done right. Unbelievable.

Hum weird as I have been able to save default settings for retracements I'm not saying it's perfect but you can sure do save templates and use them see my post.

So let's not panic on this thing, much improvement has been done and I am sure they will improve it more. ;)

Thanks for making the changes on the Fibs, they are working well. I can save the default template as expected and the text options are more flexible than before. nice job.

I'm not sure if it's new or if I just didn't notice it before, but the bar and/or price snap is a nice feature for drawing fibs.

Thanks

Great, thanks for reporting back. We did have a snap to price mode in 6.5, but in 7 we added more flexibility in the snap mode.

I noticed how it presents snap points to choose from, I don't remember seeing that before. Is this part of the changes? Is this a setting that can be toggled?

Before It simply snapped to the price or the bar. This is an interesting feature. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it's kinda cool.

Right click in chart > Drawing Tools > Snap Mode > You will see all available options here.

Ray,

Could you impliment a feature that when you right click on a fibonacci retracement or extension, you would have another menu that would be templates, that would expand a menu displaying all templates. Then you could quickly select a template without opening the whole fibonacci window. Also, the same feature would be good for when you right click on a Chart. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I think its a worthy idea. I will add this to my beta feedback list. Bear in mind, we are past the point of adding new features and focused on stabilizing what we have packed into NT7 already.

How can I set Fibo retracements tool to use only existing (rounded) prices like in 6.5? In NT7 when I draw Fibos on S&P Emini they use some non existing prices like 1050.53 or 1047.44. I would like it to show only prices that this instrument can trade on (rounded prices if you will) like it was back in 6.5. Thanks

fafura,

Will get back to you.

I don't think it is a new request since it was working fine in previous version of Ninja Trader. It seems like some part of the code (like Instrument.MasterInstrument.Round2TickSize) was skipped during Fibonnaci Drawing Tool implementation.

fafura,

It was wrong in 6.5 with that behavior and 7 has been made to correct it with the current behavior you are seeing now.

Josh are you saying that showing fib level prices that aren't rounded to the nearest tick is 'correct behaviour'? If so, then I would say this a definite step backwards.

Paul.

>> Josh are you saying that showing fib level prices that aren't rounded to the nearest tick is 'correct behaviour'?
Correct

Although we acknowledge you would prefer a different behavior, the vast majority of the NT users requested that change.

Hmmm ,strange, however I hope it would not be a problem to put it back in next beta release and let the user choose which behaviour he prefers in tool's properties window. Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. We'll add it to the list of future considerations.

You may double check with those users who don't want rounded prices which markets they trade, because in my opinion it may very well work for other markets, however in futures trading it's basically useless or at least hard to use and very confusing.

If I want to change the levels of the Fibonacci retracements to different values and then save this as a default, how can this be done?

Hello Harry,

Once you have your setting configured within the Fibonacci Properties window please right mouse click-->Manage Templates-->Select Default from the drop down window and choose Save.

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
