Question...Shutdown Sequence

Is there a recommended shutdown sequence for 7 ??...if I have 2 workspaces open, I usually close 1 down to the most simple workspace (usually just the control window)...then disconnect and then exit.

Or... is it OK to leave both (or more) workspaces open and exit ??

It should be okay to leave both open and just close. It will ask you if you want to save the workspaces or not.
