I'm connecting to my TradingTechnologies broker. It works from home connection and at work i requested firewall be open on the ports listed in the account connections setup for both the order server and price server. They allowed connection from my ip to the broker ip on those ports but I get an error when trying to connect.

Login Failed: The Fix Server is not responding, unable to connect

That means one of two things:

- You are not reaching the TT servers because your network is not letting it through
- You have type in incorrect account information when creating the TT connection

The connection is setup correctly because I can connect through my internet connection at home. I just need to know what to tell my IT at work so that I can connect. I had them open the ports for service between my IP and my brokers IP.

Are there any other ports that need to be opened? Is there a way to test if the ports are open?

I suspect the ports are not opened otherwise you would be able to connect. Since it works at home (I assume then this is the same PC at home and work) then the only difference is the network. Unfortunately we are not experts here so I would speak to someone in your IT department to find out why you are unable to hit the TT servers.

I'm new to futures trading so am using the IB Demo data to paper trade day trading on the e-minis. When I connect to the IB data the first bar is always a large open/close spread. The data feed is suppose to be actual
market data simulated from a week earlier. Is this an IB data issue or is there a setting on the charts I need to change? I have the market hours set at 12 AM to 12 AM.

Thanks,
cedli

The IB demo and papertrade account does not provide historical data to fill your chart, only their live account does. Therefor, if you open a chart, you will get one large bar to start with.

Thanks Ray.

They say they provide 5 days of Historical data. Not So?

Not that I recall.

OK, so my login problem was the firewall. I can log in now but after logging in no data was downloaded for the charts. I am using the multibroker version and when I took my laptop home It downloaded the intraday data as expected. Is it possible my office firewall allowed login and order execution but not data downloading?

Could well be the case.

Dierk, do you have any more information? I had the ports opened for the TT order server and price server. Can you tell me if there is another port that needs to be opened or do I need to check with my FCM

Should be fine, please check the log tab for errors on connection.

thanks, that's what I needed to know. It says

5/18/2007 8:19:25 AM Default Unable to connect to NinjaTrader data server (64.202.118.132/31654): No such host is known

I didn't enter this information for my broker settings. Who operates this server?

Please make sure that you have your IT staff allow NinjaTrader to access that IP address and port number and you should be fine.
