import from 6.5 worked fine except for zenfire connection....NT7 freezes....comp does not freeze fortunately

so far I have converted on custom indicator to 7 by adding bool and pixel offset to Drawtext and bool to DrawLine and DrawHorizontalLine

replay runs super fast on my quad

next step is live feed

well done on 7 so far ....the multi time frame charts are great

Do you mean if you try to connect to Zen-Fire on NT7, a connection is never established and the application is locked?

7 seems locked however, after approx 6 mins, I got several hundred messages (loop?)....which are DB job related a possibly nothing to do with zenfire connection...see attached.

prior to this I was closing 7 via ctrl/alt/del

sorry,....zenfire is connected...took a long time.....then got the DB errors

ATI user

there is still a problem connecting.

I disconnected from zen and ran some market replay

then tried to connect to zen ....NT6.5 takes approx 40-60 seconds to connect to zen....during that time you must sit and wait as NT does not respond at all

that is the same thing happening in 7 except after 20 mins it still has not connected

ATI user,

Be sure you are on 32bit for connecting to Zen. I am unable to reproduce this delay on my end. I see normal 6.5 lengths to connect.

To clarify: There is a small delay of 2-3 secs on ZenFire connect (including NT "lock up") which is the SAME as NT6.5. This is related to windows loading the required DLLs in memory.

Any further delay would have a different cause. I suspect there is something wrong with your DB (migrated from NT6.5?). Please try removing the file <my documents>/NinjaTrader7/db/NinjaTrader.sdf to give it a fresh start.

It is possible a DB issue, since I am getting messages about the strategies I had in version 6.5, even though I have not migrated any of them as yet.
Happens whenever I am trying to connect with Mirus or IQFEED. Neither of them connects. See last 3 lines extract below.

10/06/2009 5:24:23 AM|3|4|Unable to restore strategy 'NinjaTrader.Strategy.PointIt_ES_10_4PM_v5' with ID 'cf6720f0aa324d039e156fc92774200a'. Most likely this strategy no longer is supported by the custom assemblies.

Right, the issue should be gone as soon as you migrated your NinjaScript strategies.

Josh
Yes I am on 32 bit ...vista

Dierk
I did get 100+ db error messages (see attached pic above)
I removed the Ninjatrader.sdf file and it is now over 5 mins and counting on connection attempt
Should I remove all the migrated db files from 7

NinjaTrader_Dierk
10-06-2009, 07:16 AM
Not sure what file you removed. If you removed the file as per my post #7 you definitely will NOT get the error message as per your post #3.

correct...

I removed the file you said

I did not get errors...however it did not connect after 10 mins either

the db errors came on first connection after migration yesterday...since then it has not connected....i.e. I have only connected once, after long delay, and that is only time I got the errors

Please try this:
- uninstall NT7
- manually delete COMPLETE folder <my documents>/NinjaTrader7
- download and install NT7 again
- start NT and DO NOT migrate
- enter your account connection info again
- try to connect

This should work no problem

Thanks Dierk

That worked...connected in 6-7 seconds....getting live feed plots on plain chart

Glad it's working for you now. Not sure what caused your issue...

A clean install and manually adding the connection worked for me also. Trying to import a strategy kept failing.
Created a small strategy and compiled it to see if that would clear the reference to the unimported strategies, did not work.

Only deleting and installing a new instance, and manually adding the connection, worked.

Thanks.

Right you need to import the exact missing strategies to get rid of errors below.

Dierk,
The problem with that is that you may not bring over all you strategies to 7. Also there are various complile error on the indicators, that you need to fix, before the strategy can work. Would be nice if Ninja 7 on import forgot about the old strategies I had, and leave me start a fresh.

NinjaTrader_Dierk

Right, however removing the strategies may delete the trades which are stored with it -> rather keep the trades and accept the error messages until
- you purposely drop the entire DB or
- reset it by Tools->Options->Misc or
- migrate your strategies

I have the same issue.

I uninstalled NT7, removed the folder in user documents, installed again, DID NOT migrate data

then I try to connect to Mirus and is freezes the whole app...

Is there may be other things I need to clean up before I install NT7 again? Some registry entries perhaps? Anything besides the NT7 folder?

P.S. I left my PC in hanged state for an hour and still is frozen. No "db messages" as reported by OP

maxima,

Just the Documents directory. What you should also check is that you don't have any antivirus or adware type software locking the directory while it tries to scan it. This can cause problems if NT tries to do something with the files at the same time.

no definitely I dont have anything like that.

To clarify, you went through a cycle like this:
- run a backup to restore your data etc. later
- uninstall NT7 via control panel
- manually delete complete (!) folder <my documents>/NinjaTrader7
- reinstall NT7B6
- start NT and add your account connection
- connect

In case this still fails: anything in your logs?

In case issue persists I needed to connect to your live account to analyze what's going on. Would you mind mailing me then your account credentials to "dierk AT ninjatrader DOT com" and reference this thread? Thanks

I tried to connect my 6.5 to the Mirus account and it doesnt work. 6.5 got frozen too...

Hence ignore my posts here while I am looking for cause. Obviously it is not NT7 fault.

P.S. logs doest show anything. no records after I click Connect

maxima,

Connecting to Zen sometimes takes time and while it does it it may appear NT is not responding. Please try letting it wait for a few moments.

maxima
12-23-2009, 09:40 AM
Yeah I know. I am talking about minutes, I waited over 10 mins definitely.

Could NT7 install affect 6.5 anyhow? Will try on clean machine again

NinjaTrader_Josh

NT7 would not influence NT6.5 in any way or vice versa.

maxima

OK it was totally my fault. It appeared that Zen connection doesnt work with Windows 7 x64.

I got Patsystems login and it works in 6.5 but not in NT 7 as yet.. Will have to wait then.

To clarify, are you saying:
- your Zen connection credentials worked fine with NT6.5
- they did NOT work with NT7 on Win7 64bit?

maxima
12-24-2009, 03:46 AM
Sorry I probably mixed up. It seems Zen never worked on x64 and I deleted 32-bit permanently.

I switched to Patsystmes yesterday will see what it earns later today...
