Is there a quick way to add all the symbols from nasdaq and nyse? I am getting tired of manually doing it the thousands of symbols.

Sorry, not supported right now. We have an "easy to use" import on our list already.

How can I use this import feature? Is it possible that I can make a .txt file with all the symbols I want for it to import?

Aside from importing, I need to migrate my installation of NinjaTrader to another server. Is there a way to migrate the symbols I added manually in an easy way? Is there some sort of config file I can transfer to my new installation?

Sorry, not supported right now

You just would need to copy your DB <my documents>/NinjaTrader6/db/NinjaTrader.mdb

Hello:

We have a pre-built instrument list of the S&P 500 stocks that can be downloaded from here:
http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/HelpGuideV6/Pre-BuiltInstrumentLists.html

If the stocks you are searching are not on this pre-built list, you can enter the stock symbol into any order entry window or Format Data series window for a chart instead of adding each instrument to the instrument manager.

See attached screen shot

Hi I'm trying to add some Futures symbols. One problem I'm finding is that there is no option for Futures in the Type: Dropdown menu.

Hello:

You are correct. Unfortunately, futures contracts need to be added to the Instrument Manager first.

Yikes. So I need to input all the futures product I trade? It would be nice if this came with the installation then everyone would not have to add 40-50 Futures contracts.

In the previous version I remember a bunch of Futures Symbols were available. I don't see them in the new version release.

Hello:

NT 6 comes standard with most commonly used futures contracts pre-built into the Instrument Manager. All of the instruments avaialable in NT 5 are also available in NT 6 without having to create from scratch.

Which futures contracts are you seeking?

To verify, from the Control Center, go to Tools > Instrument Manager, select Futures and choose the Search button. You can then add these your default instrument list for easy retrieval in any order entry or chart data series window.

More information on adding instruments to this list can be found here:
http://www.ninjatrader-support.com/HelpGuideV6/AddRemoveFromList.html

I think there might be a bug with the new release. Because I'm not seeing any of the default futures anywhere (like ES for example).

There is no dropdown menu for futures, so I can't do a search.

Hello:

Please send an email to support at ninjatrader dot com and I can send you our Master Instrument List as an attachment. This file is to large to post in the forum.

Then, try the following...
1. Shutdown NT.
2. Copy the file Instruments.txt
3. Paste into the following folder:
C: > Program Files > NinjaTrader 6 > DB folder
4. Restart NT
The instruments should now be available in your Instrument Manager.

Is there any plans for making it so we don't need to input each symbol individually in the future? If not perhaps we could get a tool that would allow us to create the kind of file you guys made for the S&P500.

We have it on our list of future enhancements already. No ETA yet.

Is there an easy way to add symbols to the instrument master. I mean stock symbols. When I try to enter a new stock symbol, I do a search on the ticker and nothing ever comes back. I'm fine with just entering them but that doesn't seem to work either. I've started daytrading certain kinds of momentum stock and I'd sure like to trade them with my NT, but right now I have to use IB's stock entry system and I pretty much hate it.
Thanks for your help.

Hello daven,

I suggest to select "stock" under Type in the Instrument Manager and hit search. You will generate a list of all available stocks by default in NinjaTrader. If the stock is not available you can manually create a stock by clicking New. Enter all correct parameters, such as currency, exchange, etc. Don't forget to enter the correct symbol mapping under the Misc-tab next to the data feed provider you are using. Add the stock to your instrument list by highlighting it and clicking the arrow pointing to the left. You can now select the stock from the Dynamic SuperDOM.

I tried to do what you said but stocks wasn't a choice on my menu. I just checked with Mirus and they are a futures house only so I'll never be able to look at a stock from their feed. I'm going to check my IB connection and see if that will work.
Thanks

Correct, you will need to be connected with a data feed provider that support equities, like IB. Let me know if "stocks" is available when connected to IB.
