View Full Version : Highlighting vertical Arrow Line sometimes difficult

This is minor...have noticed that sometimes when you may place a vertical Arrow Line on a chart it is often difficult or impossible to highlight it to move or delete...then have to go to "remove drawing objects" and select arrow line to remove.

Thanks

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your post.

I am not seeing the same behavior on my end. Are there any special steps I would need to take to reproduce?
Are you making sure to click directly on the line?

In arrow line properties have the width set to 2, & dash style to Dot. Am placing on a 3 second chart. Drawn as close to vertical as possible. Sometimes can highlight...sometimes not even if many attempts.
No problem highlighting if the line is slightly sloping.

Thanks

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your reply.

Interesting. All seems to function as expected on my end (http://screencast.com/t/6Y0rJETlm).

Does this only occur on 3 second charts?
If you were to open a new 3 second chart, would the issue persist?

Have also noticed similar behaviour with the Line tool...when set to dot & width 2...if drawn vertical it can become difficult to highlight...

Thanks...

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your reply.

The line object (width: 2, dash style: dot) also functions normally on my end.

Does this only occur with objects set to use the width and dash style you mentioned?

Just tried on a new 1 minute chart...both Line and Arrow Line if drawn vertically will not highlight...also tried on another screen...works the same there too... you have to draw vertically...

If set to dash still might not highlight...will try some other widths....

I have noticed this in the past but just got around to mentioning....

Thanks...

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your reply.

If you use different line parameters, does the issue persist. (width: 5, dash style: dash dot, for example)?

Still the same problem if line width set to 4 and solid line. Lines must be drawn vertical or very close to vertical.

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your reply.

It seems that this is PC specific.
Does this occur in new workspaces (File > Workspaces > New Workspace) as well?
Are you sure your clicking directly on the line?

Just tried this out again in Ninja on another computer...the behaviour works the same for me there too...with different line widths and stlyes....yes...am clicking all over the lines...sometimes a particular line will be clickabe...while an similar adjacent vertical line will not be...

Are you drawing your lines close to vertical or vertical ??....

Thanks...

Hi Alfred,

Thank you for your reply.

I'm drawing my lines vertically using the session markers as a guide.

Not sure why this would be occurring on your end.

What is your graphics card setup? Perhaps this is related to a display issue.

Is there any obvious difference between when selecting the lines works and does not work?

Here is a link to a video just did on this...

My graphics cards are different on the 2 computers tried this on today. It seems to be the luck of the draw if a line will be clickable.

Thanks...

Just tried NT on a 3rd computer...still the same behavior...

These 3 computers have different graphics cards and different monitors.

Thanks...

Kyle...

Playing around with this a bit more....the problem seems to be related to the horizontal compression of the chart...at max chart compression, when the vertical lines are applied...for me are they are almost always unclickable...but if you expand the compression 4 or 5 levels vertical lines placed then are (almost) always clickable...

In your video example linked below, your chart was not compressed that much...perhaps that is why it worked OK for you.

My charts are generally set at max compression on a 24" LCD 1920 X 1080 monitor (or 1600 X 1200 on another monitor for example.)...even on a 1280 X 1024 17" LCD, at max compression vertical lines are often unclickable...

Maybe take a look in this direction...

Thanks...Alfred
