View Full Version : NinjaTrader 6 will not start after install

The splash screen displays, and then an Assertion Failed dialog opens with the following message: NinjaTrader is not installed properly, registry key: 'NinjaTrader' is missing

My first attempt to install failed with a message that a cab was corrupt. I downloaded the installer Version 6.0.1000.1 and ran it again. It completed successfully, but gets the above message when I try to start it.

I tried uninstalling, rebooting and installing again. But still no luck.

I installed NinjaTrader on a laptop running Vista Home Premium.

Thanks,
Jason

Please try this:
- uninstall NT via control panel
- clear your browser cache
- download NT6 again and install it as admin (!)

I followed you instructions, but I get the same results. Vista is new to me, but I assume I correctly installed as admin by running a command prompt as admin and starting the .msi from there.

Here is a screen shot of the Assertion Failed dialog.

Starting a command prompt as admin will not help. You need to logout and login as admin and go through procedure below again.

Plus: you need to make sure that you uninstall NT as the non-admin user you installed it first time.

It runs now, but only when I am logged into the administrator account. Is this the only way it will run?

We suggest that is how you run NinjaTrader on Windows Vista. We have seen funny behaviour when running as a standard user on Windows Vista.
