This query is more about using getting the best connection for the Nija zen-fire data feed.

I have two ISP options. They are both connected here currently.

Line 1:
cable faster upload and less latency but slower download

Line 2:
adsl slower upload and more latency but 3 times the download speed.

I wasn't sure how the data feed protocol was implemented and if the latency or upload response time would be a bigger issue than thought.

The numbers:
Download: 700kbps vs 1800kbps
Upload: 400kbps vs 200kbps
Latency: 200ms vs 300ms

The actual scenario is one carrier is a faster connection in New Zeland but once they hit their pipes to the USA it slows down dramitically. It is a 10meg connection and I get 8meg speeds in NZ but outside NZ forget it.

The other ADSL connection is a 5meg connection which is slower but their interntional pipes to the USA are much better.

I am thinking the ADSL faster download is better becuase that is where the bulk of the data is but sometimes there are unseen issues and considerations.

Any comments from the experts?:?

Depends on what you want to do
- scalper / high frequency trader -> low latency is important
- backtester who needs a lot of data for backtesting -> download bandwidth could be an issue
