With the recent pump and dump scams perpetuated by Russians on E Trade customers it has me wondering why NT and their brokers don't offer tighter security measures?
For example, when I used X Trader or TransAct they require and log in and password every session. With NT I just open the able and ready to go. Is there a way to force a user name and password at minimum? Also what about some type of token to prevent hackers?
BTW I have good security on my computer and a firewall with NAT.

Will NT7 have this functionality?

Hello,
Details on NT7 have not been released yet.

It sounds like a really good idea, and quite basic to implement.
Some people have more money in their trading account than bank account so it seems silly to leave this totally unprotected.
Another important security feature would be the ability to compile all of your indicator/strategy .cs files into a protected .DLL tied to your machine ID.
In any type of institutional/prop trading/shared environment it would take 10 seconds for someone to steal all of your indicators/strategies and other intellectual property. Not good.

Hello,
I send your suggestions to development for consideration. Thanks!

Can we see a list of all the suggestions sent to development for consideration?
Surely it is not confidential since they are submitted via the forum, and since there is a "list" compiled by you it would be much easier for you to share it and post it on the forum than it would be for a user to manual search for your exact phrase "for consideration" in the forum to find all the individual matches.

Hello,
I am sorry this is not available, however I can assure you I and every other support member personaly send each and every suggestion to the CEO of the company. It is a mandated policy and we go through great lengths to do it. He and the development department determine which suggestions are of most value to the greatest number of traders and those are implemented.

Thanks Ben. I would have fallen out of my chair if you had said yes. :)

I want to protect some indicators I have written. Is there an example of the method used to read/verify a Machine ID?

BradB,
What we have for those functions would have to be used inconjunction with our Vendor Licensing management services. For questions about this please send a note to sales [at] ninjatrader [dot] com.

Can NT see its customers' strategies and use them for their own trading (if they are profitable)? Is this legal? Does NT do any trading anyways?
Thank you for listening to my concerns.

>> Can NT see its customers' strategies and use them for their own trading
No, since they are only reside on your local PC (<my documents>/NinjaTrader6.5/bin/custom/Strategy).
>> Is this legal?
It definitely would be illegal we/NT would look into your strategies.
>> Does NT do any trading anyways?
No, unless for technically testing our broker adapters.

Any updates on the password protection? I have access to the latest NT7 beta, so I know it isn't currently included in NT7, but is it still on the list of considerations? It seems like it would add a lot of security, and wouldn't be too hard to implement...But I could be wrong about that.

I'm not sure what password protection you are referring to. Please be specific.

By password protection, I mean that when you start NT, you are prompted for a username and password.

Thanks for clarification. Nothing has changed in that regard.
