Hello NT support,

while my last issue is waiting for a solution, here is a new one
( oldie but goodie - I reported a similar one a while back.)

On monday the charts are not updating, strategies dont take valid signals!

I set up my strategies, using the templates, workspaces of last week.
(There they worked fine !!!)

At 7:00 there is now data of course since we expect data from 8.00 on.

I set up my charts, which takes a while due to many parameters - WHICH I HAVE TO RE-ENTER everytime because of lack of save feature!!! AND IT would be a disaster to make mistakes !

At 8:15 I realize that the charts are not working - NOTHING is working TY.

If I create a new chart with newly attached strategies NT works.
THIS IS NOT affordable!!! This is also an "old Issue" not solved.

Hello makra081,

Could it be the first time you opened the charts, it did not use the current date for 'Last date' in the Format Data Series window of the chart? What session begin and end times did the chart use when first opened?

I see it now works. Are you able to reproduce the issue?

In my life? Today ? since PC restart ?

exactly, that is what I am complaining about.


- session begin and end is set to 0.00 & 0.00, days back are set to 6

- I also tried to reload history multiple times

Hello makra081,

After 8:15 you created new charts that worked as expected, which would be the second time. The charts created before this are referred to by 'first time'. Did you create these charts before Monday and you left NinjaTrader running without closing the software?

- yes, it runs since saturday (currently: 1day, 22h, 07min) So there was a pc & NT restart from friday to monday, but it runs well before Monday

Did the 'Last date' change on Sunday to the current date in the Format Data Series of the charts?

Could it be you experienced a disconnection between the moment you started NinjaTrader Saturday up to today's morning?

Does the issue occur on a consistent base?

I suggest to check if tomorrow morning if the charts use yesterday's date as Last date.

In addition, I suggest to check the 'Last date' of your chart when starting trading to ensure it is setup correctly.

Do you say NT stops working if a disconnection occurred ?

- as stated before: Yes it happend before on mondays. but not always. Not last monday

I suggest to check if tomorrow morning if the charts use yesterday's date as Last date.
- I realized it only on Mondays !!! But I will put it on my list I have to check if I work with NT

In addition, I suggest to check the 'Last date' of your chart when starting trading to ensure it is setup correctly.


What is the underlying error here ? This is not a solution !

In order to further troubleshoot the issue, we would need to reproduce the issue on our end to further analyze. In order to reproduce on our end, we need exact steps to reproduce the issue.

So far we have determined on some Mondays only, the issue occurs. Was there anything similar between the Mondays on which the issue occurred?

I understand that you can not solve this issue solely based on the informations exchanged here? Then get some help !

What should I do ? I am only a user trying to use your product.

I am sure I am not the first one with this problem, and there is at least one further post (of mine) in the forum.

We have also explored if I use a wrong setting or if I otherwise ill-use your product.

I can send you once more my logs /db ?!

... and no - I did not realize any patterns for that bug despite the fact : it is monday and I am trying to work with NinjaTrader

Hello makra081,

Since the issue occurs only on some Mondays, I would need to wait for Monday to test on my end with NinjaTrader running for at least a day.

I requested if you could remember similarities between the occurrances, because they could lead to certain conclusions, which could indicate the cause.

I will investigate the log and trace files you sent in relation to the other case, to see if I can find the cause.

I am unable to reproduce the issue on my end so far.

The fact you had NinjaTrader running since saturday must be related.

This means I will have to wait until next weekend.

Are you sure you cannot remember any similarities between the Mondays the issue occurred?

I dont remember more similarities.

I do usually start my NT for the week at sunday, but I did it before on saturday. I dont recall a correlation to problems on monday.

Are there any known issues if NT runs from saturday on ?
(this hints memory / temp / cash issues -> which are known problem zones for NT)

I use week to week:
- same instrument
- same templates for instruments
- same strategies
- same workspaces
- I always record ticks
- I always backup & rebuild DB over WE

There are no issues I am familiar with that occurs when NinjaTrader is started Saturday up to Monday.

When exactly do you perform the backup and rebuild the database? What exactly is referred to by rebuild database; do you repair the database or do you restore a backup file that holds the database from one week ago?

-> Friday night or saturday over the day

-> I only backup all , I do not restore a backup file

-> I do rebuild database as a precaution.

Hello makra081,

I will test your scenario upcoming weekend. I will create a backup and repair my database on Friday. I will start NinjaTrader Sunday and will check if the 'Last date' remains on Sunday's date after mignight.

NT did not update from Wednesday to Thursday.
The same issue as described before.

I see two FDAX 06-09 range charts. One with the 4/15 date and the other 4/16.

Does the chart display data for today if you change the 'Last date' to the current date for the 4/15 chart?

Could it be you experienced a disconnection last night?

Did the chart stop receiving real-time data at midnight? Did you have any other charts opened at the same time?

yes - if I change it manually it displays data of today correctly .

1. In general the markest are closed for FDAX from 19:30 to 6:00 GMT (?).
2. other charts were open, also an other FDAX. all updated fine.

This does not help!
As you might recognize by now, it doesn't happened that regularly. But it happend !!!. The probability is, that it will not happen tomorrow.
Presumably I have a new occurrence of this bug in 2 weeks and I will ask you again then. You then will put me of again to watch next day or next weekend.

Are you taking this seriously ?
(as you might realize from my other posts, I don't bother you with negligibilities)

Yes, I take this seriously. However, in order to resolve an issue we need to know what is causing it to occur. So we can reproduce it on our end to further analyze the issue and have it resolved.

Currently, we do not know what is causing the issue and that is what I trying to find out.

what happens if you will not be able to reproduce it on your side - for ever ?

We are running in cycles here.

How can we narrow it down further, right now ? (we wont wait for the next occurrence)

Here is a little explanation of our workflow:

- We set up the strategies in the evening with a lot of parameters for different instruments. This takes a lot of time and needs to be executed precisely.

- We leave NT running and expect it to work the next morning.

These surprises in the morning are not acceptable and costly !

When did you notice the chart did not update to the current date; what time in what time zone?

I assume you left NinjaTrader running overnight, corrrect?

Start Menu--> My Documents--> NinjaTrader 6.5--> Log--> log.20090416 for today. (log.yyyymmdd for any other date)

Hello Makra,

You can resolve the error by repairing the database at Tools-->Options-->Misc-tab.

I am sad to report that NinjaTrader crashed during the trading day!

NT keeps crashing!

it is obvious, that it is related to .Net 2.0

(I already re-installed .Net 2.0 incl. next versions as requested by your support)
