I would like to have one of my charts session time correspond to the Dow Mini trade session which starts at 6:15pm and ends at 4 pm the next day. Is there a way to do this? When I change it in properties it accepts it but when I view the chart, it is empty.

thx,

Freddie

We do not currently support custom sessions that span across two calendar days. This is on our list for improvements for later this year.

When I change session start time from 12:00 AM to 9:30 AM and change end time from 12:00 AM to 16:00 PM or 16:15 PM, when I click "apply" or "OK", end time changes back to 12:00 AM. What am I missing?

Can you try 2:00 PM or 2:15 PM, that should work.

Hi Ray,

When sessions times are expanded to carry over midnight could these changes be attached to individual Symbols rather than chart properties.

That way any symbol changes on a chart will always reflect the correct session times.

On an slightly related topic, is possible to use eSignals codes for day time sessions only?

ie ES #F=2

I have tried this without success - perhaps I am doing something wrong.

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion. We'll add it to the list.

Unfortunately ES #F=2 is not supported. The "=2" suffix causes problems.

Custom session management at the instrument level is on our list however, once we do come out with overnight sessions with our next major release, you could use chart templates to quickly change the chart session times.

Ray,
When will overnight sessions be released? I'm testing a strategy that works well, but it gets messed up with the kind of daily close/open offsets that we've been seeing lately (todays for example where the ES opened 11 points lower than yesterday's close. That kind of offset forces buys or sells that are not correct because of the stochastic shock of the non-continuous price variable. It wreaks havoc with an otherwise well-behaved system.
Thanks
daven

We are in late testing and documentation stage right now and hope to have beta by end of September.

Hi Ray,

1. Is the overnights session beta released?
2. Another timing issue, is it possible to display the exchange time and not the current PC time?

Thx
Karish

Any update on the start and end time spanning two days, such as for a 6pm Open and 5:15pm close?

Thanks,

Jeff

Is supported with latest 6.5 (beta) which you can download from the regular download page.

Sorry I didn't note this in my previous post. I am using 6.5.10. I was trying to shift the start time in the Chart Properties box for the QM. When I change this to 6:00 pm and 5:15 pm, I get a blank chart. I am working off of a tick chart. Not sure if that makes a difference. Didn't try it on a minute time frame.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff

I mispoke. I recently moved over to a live platform and somehow "upgraded" back to ver 6.0.1000.10 . I am reinstalling ver 6.5.10 and see if that fixes my problem.

Sorry

Jeff

Quick question relating session time. Didn't want to start a new thread for what is probably going to be a simple answer.

Say I have 15min chart open for the ES emini S&P, is it possible to have just 1 candle for the period when the market is closed so that I can still see the overnight range?

Hello samuelhogg,

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately this option is not available at this time within NinjaTrader at this time. I will forward this to our development team for future considerations.

I have seen indicators for PriorOHLC but if the period could be set for when the market was closed, would it still work if I changed the session times in the chart properties to when the market was open?

Yes, the PriorOHLC will calculate based off your Session begins and ends times so you can definitely use this as a method.
