View Full Version : Chart bug
Using version 5.2.1000.6. When 1min chart loads, the "loading data" window will not close. The other charts load fine. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of NT. No change. I tried closing the chart and creating it again. No change. This just started happening. I can't get rid of the "loading data" window and it seems to slow the machine as well. Is there a fix?

Is the abort button enabled? If not, then the data request is not abortable.
What do you mean by "latest version of NT"? NT6 (available as beta) now supports e.g. abort option for data requests from IB.
When I click on the abort button, it does nothing.
I was using a previous version of NT. I downloaded the most current version of NT5 hoping that would resolve the issue. I'm not using NT6.

Please see question below: Is the abort button enabled?
Also:
- Which provider/broker are you connected to?
- For which instrument do you want to load data?
- What interval? 1-minute? else?
Dierk,
I may not understand your question.
The "abort" button on the "loading data" window does nothing when I click on it (it does not abort nor terminate the "Loading data" window.) Beyond that, I don't know.
The only way to terminate the "loading data" process is to terminate it using the Windows Task manager. This closes NT altogether.
I'm connected to AMP.
In my set-up, several charts are loaded. These load fine (ES 50 tick and 3 minute charts -- by load fine, I mean, the "loading data" window comes on, the data is loaded and the "loading data" window closes and chart runs normally.) But when it tries to load the ES 1 minute chart, it "hangs" as described before: the "loading data" window will not close. I can't manually close it except to terminate NT altogether.

Since you're connected to AMP/ZenFire, the abort button is grayed out = not enabled, meaning you can not press it, since the data request can not be aborted.
So the real question is: Why does your request for the ES 1-minute data not return?
Here is what I suggest:
- restart NT
- close all charts
- connect to AMP
- pull up one chart on ES
Does it work?
Also: It could worthwhile you give NT6 a try. There have been several changes regarding data retrieval which potentially could fix the issue you experienced. There will be a new beta out next week. I suggest you try that one.
Dierk,
I closed all the charts. Opened a new 1 min ES. Connected to AMP. This loaded fine. No problem. Then I closed NT and restarted it again. It loaded fine. Then I opened the other charts that I use. Close NT. Then restarted NT.
Everything loaded fine!
Looks like this is now handled.
Thank you!
Swan
PS: I'll give NT6 a try as well. I was waiting till it was finalized. But it seems the beta is OK.
