Upon placement of an order and hearing "order filled" the superdome FREEZES for what seams like five minuets but is more likely 15-30 seconds. This is just untollerable... What is the problem.... it feels as if NT is writing to a hard drive or something. What to do to eliminate this problem.
Thanks!

Please check on task manager:
- how much RAM does your machine
- what is actual CPU load as you experience this
- how much RAM is available as you experience this
- how much RAM is consuemd by NT as you experience this
Thanks

i continually have this problem. I have checked CPU usage and this doesn't seem to be an issue (I have 2 zeon processors and they are only utilised at around 30%, and memory reads 990mb (1gig installed)
did you ever make any progress on this subject?

Are you NT6? If so, then please:
- uninstall NT6 via control panel
- install custom build from here: www.ninjatrader-support.com/ninjatrader/nt6.custom/NinjaTrader.Install.msi
This is a post NT6B6 build holding a fix on a lock up scenario which we located.

Downloaded and installed without problem at home. I'll take the file to the office with me.
We have often experienced problems connecting to your web servers from our office site- probably another example.
thanks
for the help

I upgraded last night and first trade today did the same thing. I placed a buy in the Dyn Super Dom and it hung there for a few tick bars before it took the trade. The voice confirmation happened then about 8 seconds later the trade appeared in the DOM this is after the market had moved a few tick bars thus causing a major difference in what should have been my entry.

Likely a ressource problem:
- How much physical RAM does your machine have?
- How much RAM is availbel as all your otehr programs run but before you start NT
- What kind of processor do you have?

Dierk,
I have a P4 3,2 GHz.
I have 523628 total RAM.
177620 available prior to lauching NT w/ only 5% CPU usage being used.
112820 available after launching NT w/ 8% CPU usage being used.

I see, so ~0.5 GB RAM. That is the issue. Please plug in at least another 0.5 GB. This will resolved the issue.

I'm having a similar problem. I put an order in the DOM (Static) and the order hangs for a few seconds before filling. I don't see large CPU usage, but I hear alot of hard drive chatter. I'm using a P4 3.0 ghz, 3 GB RAM. My hard drive only has a 2 mb cache, would upgrading to a 16 mb cache help with this problem, or is it processor related? It just seems like a hard drive issue to me. Thanks.

This is a problem likely on the very first order placed? It is a RAM limitation on your PC and NT will swap to disk for virutal memory access. To resolve, you can add more memory, reduce the number of applications running or place a dummy order as soon as you start NT.

Ray,
No, I always place a dummy order first. I have 3 GB of RAM, and this occurs even when NT is the only thing running on the machine. I just ran a thread at Elitetrader about this problem, and others have experienced it also. It seems you need a new powerful Core 2 machine to run NT 6. The others all said they had P4's with at least 2 gb ram and had the same problem. I jsut wondered if you think a Hard drive with a much larger cache (16 mb) might make a difference, or should I upgrade my machine? I just upgraded from 1 GB of RAM to 3 GB and still have this issue. Thanks.

Then it must be something on unique PC's that can cause this that we are not familiar with. We run many sub-powerful laptops in the office without issue so I don't believe that you require a powerful Core 2 machine but of course, there must be something on your PC that is conflicting. I wish I knew more.
Sorry I could not of been of more help.

My disk drive only has 2mb cache. Would a newer drive with 16mb help?

I am not a hardware expert so I can not give you a professional opinion however, I would think that would have a positive impact.
