i use discretionary methods for trade entry. how do i setup a trailing stop if my profits exceed certain threshold.

You can use the AutoTrail part of an ATM strategy to setup a trailing stop. More information and a video can be found at the link below.

you did indicate that you cannot use a ATM as part of a discretionary entry using Chart Trader. Pl correct me if i am wrong.

If you are already in a position, it is not possible to add a trailing stop.
However, if you enter your entry trade discretionary with an ATM strategy attached that uses the AutoTrail, it is possible.

now that is something. is there any examples on how to setup a tralinign stop without a using ATM to open position.

i was asking for an example for that.

My apologies, I interpreted "how to setup a tralinign stop without a using ATM to open position" as setting up a trailing stop without using an ATM strategy when you have an open position.
Please see the link I have posted in post #2 for instructions to setup the AutoTrail.
